Joyce Hurd lives on the seacoast in New Hampshire with her Maine Coon cat, Kiki. She is a former advertising agency executive and has also worked as a waitress, long-distance phone operator, and secretary. From all those careers there are a lot of curiosities to mine for storytelling. She graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a degree in creative writing, a few years later than planned. Joyce enjoys traveling reading, gardening, and cooking, seeing friends. Growing up as a child of deaf parents gives her insight into the worlds of silence, physical disabilities, and the stereotypes they faced.
Joyce has published essays in the 2020 Spring issue of the SNHU Penman as well as in the 2020 Boston Book Festival. Her debut novel, Always Forward was published October 10 and is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com She enjoys writing both essays of current events and personal reflections as well as longer form fiction.
